This Thursday June 7 the competition for the final of the 200 flat meters began. Quiñonez won the gold medal with the competition record. Its time: 19 seconds and 93 hundredths (19.93). In his last participation in the Olympic Games in London, in which Quiñónez finished seventh, the time of the Ecuadorian was 20 seconds and 57 hundredths (20.57). Now he is only hundredths away of the most important brand in the world.
The world record in 200 flat meters belongs to Jamaica’s Usain Bolt with a time of 19 seconds and 19 hundredths (19.19).
Quiñónez’ gold medal is number 24 for the country in the South American Games. The competition for the delegation ends this Friday, June 8.
